Free Preschool for 3 & 4 year old’s
Bank Street Head Start is both a Head Start Program funded by the federal government and a Pre-K for All program funded by the Department of Education. We are recognized as an outstanding preschool program in New York City that offers free breakfast, lunch, and snacks as well as educational, nutritional, mental health, and social services to 68 families each year at no cost.

Food Menu 🍽
In celebration of our diverse BSHS community as well as in support of embracing both our own and other's cultural heritage through food, we launch "FoodAroundMyCommunity". Every Thursday, one dish and a story will be introduced to the children by one of our staff members of related cultural backgrounds including Jamaica, China, Bangladesh and Cuba. Our goal is to not only expand curiosity around tasting a variety of food, but also encourage questions of how culinary tradition differs between cultures and ingredients used.
Each classroom has a qualified lead teacher & 2 teacher assistants
Our student-teacher ratio exceeds the standard 10:1 for preschoolers with 6:1 at Bank Street by having 3 teachers in each classroom
